Angela and Amber Alert: NASCAR Twins Pose for the Camera

On October 23, 2010, professional racing drivers and sisters Angela and Amber Cope made history by being the first twins to compete in one of the top three series in NASCAR.
The two sisters made their debut at the Camping World Truck Series race with Amber finishing 26th and Angela 30th.
Now, the 28-year old twins are following in the footsteps of NASCAR driver Danica Patrick by posing in the March issue of the men's magazine Maxim with a hot photo-shoot, a taste of which you can get in the video after the break.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Tori Praver Spreads Out for New 2013 Lexus GS

Lexus is playing the curvalicious card of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Tori Praver in its latest campaign for the all-new 2013 GS sedan.
As the official automotive marketing partner of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit property, the Japanese company is taking advantage (or so to speak…) of Praver and using her in a multi-faceted campaign called TORI 500, showcasing an actual racetrack designed around her body.
Among other things, the campaign includes a four-page spread in the February 14 issue of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine and a Tori 500 game for iPhone users in which you can race the new GS around Praver.
“What better way to help introduce the bold new face of Lexus—the all-new GS—than with a bold new campaign featuring a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model?” said Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing.
“With the new GS, there’s no going back for Lexus. Instead of just looking at the pictures, consumers can share in the fun through our many campaign components, including having Tori appear in their own photos," he added.

[From Lexus PR] Campaign elements include:
  • iOS app—Available at Lexus.com/tori500 and iTunes, SUPERMODELED is a camera app allowing people to place the swimsuit model into their own photos with the click of a button.
  • Behind-The-Scenes Video—Two of the world’s best professional drivers, race car driver Scott Pruett and stunt driver Greg Tracy, compete on the TORI 500 track (to see who wins a victory lap with Tori in the passenger seat, visit: Lexus.com/tori500 or youtube.com/lexus).
  • Print and Online Components—Executions include a four-page spread in the Feb. 14 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and custom tablet integrations featured on iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Xoom and Nook.
  • Launch Week Events—Lexus will participate in the marquee New York launch event and SI’s two Las Vegas events, SI Swimsuit On Location and Club SI Swimsuit. Additionally, the automaker is the exclusive presenting sponsor of the first-ever, two-day Beauties & Beats Music Festival, happening at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Feb. 15 -16.

Nissan Videos: 2013 Nissan GT-R Versus 2012 Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition

2013 Nissan GT-R Versus 2012 Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition - Perhaps the greatest achievement for Nissan and its GT-R is that it has become a benchmark for all types of sports cars. And there's no better proof for this than the fact that in February alone, we've seen at least three publications comparing the Godzilla against a variety of new sports cars including the 2012 M5 sedan, the 2012 Camaro ZL1 and now, the Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition from Insideline.
So, before you watch the video test, let's do a quick rundown on the numbers:
The 2013 GT-R has a 545HP and 463 lb-ft 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 linked to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission driving all-four wheels, and a starting price of $97,820, with the test car costing $100,820 due to the $3,000 Super Silver paint option.
On the other side of the ring, we have the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition powered by a 7.0-liter pushrod V8 pushing out 505HP and 470 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Z06 starts at $76,500, but the test car's options such as the $8,815 3LZ Premium Equipment Group, $4,950 Centennial Special Edition package, $7,500 Z06 Ultimate Performance package (with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes), and $3,995 carbon-fiber package lift the price to $101,760.
Check out the video test below while you can also read the full test over at Insideline.

Volvo Videos: Swiss Volvo Driver Keeps Warm the Traditional Way – with a Wood Burning Stove

Here's a quick question. Who do you think is zanier: Pascal Prokop that replaced the passenger seat of his 1990 Volvo 240 station wagon with a… wood-burning stove or the Swiss authorities that approved the car and allow Prokop to use it on public roads? While you think about it we'll tell you that Prokop told news reporters that he opted for the stove over an electric heater because he could keep former burning long after he turned off the car.
And why would he anyone choose to stay inside his car in Switzerland, we hear you ask? The answer comes from Prokop: "When I'm tired or have drunk too much, I want to sleep in the car."

Chicago Auto Show: Ram Trucks Shows us its More Curvalicious Dark Side

2012 Chicago Auto Show - It could be a scene from a James Bond movie but the bikini-cladded brunette bombshell seen coming out of the water in this teaser clip doesn’t approach 007 but a Ram truck covered in a black sheet. The spot says we'll have to wait two more days to find out what's hiding under the covers, which coincides with the grand opening of the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
Ram Trucks has already announced that it will debut a new top-of-the line trim level called Laramie Limited Edition in Chicago, but we can't say for sure if this is the "Dark Side" or if the company has something else in store for us.

[With Video] Toyota Aygo City Car Retouched for the 2012 Model Year

Toyota Aygo City Car Retouched for the 2012 Model Year

Toyota Aygo City Car Retouched for the 2012 Model Year - The prize for the least surprising announcement of the day goes to Toyota. That’s not to say that the number one Japanese carmaker has done anything wrong. It’s just that, after Peugeot and Citroen revealed their updated 107 and C1 respectively, it was only a matter of time before Toyota presented the 2012 version of its jointly-developed and built Aygo city car.
Like its French siblings, this is the second time the Aygo receives a facelift, with the first being at the end of 2008, three years after its initial launch.
For 2012, the Aygo gets a redesigned front end that brings it closer to the family look established by models like the Prius and the new Yaris. Changes include a revised front bumper sporting a larger air intake and LED daytime running lights, darker-tinted rear windows and newly designed wheels.
In the interior, the dashboard has gained a new dark grey finish while Toyota claims to have reduced the noise levels.
There's also a newly-design steering wheel with paddles for the MultiMode auto transmission-equipped models, new grey, orange or black surrounds for the speedo, tachometer and air vents, plus an optional audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
The Aygo's gets the same revised 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine as the two French models. Output remains unchanged at 68HP and 93Nm, but emissions drop from the previous version’s 105 to just 99 g/km while average fuel consumption is also reduced, from 61.3 to 65.7 mpg UK (4.6 to 4.3 lt/100 km).

BMW Reveals New "Eclipse" Media Campaign for the 2013 6-Series Gran Coupe

BMW Reveals New "Eclipse" Media Campaign for the 2013 6-Series Gran Coupe
Despite the fact that the 6-Series Grand Coupe’s world premiere will take place in March at the Geneva Motor Show and the first cars won't be arriving in showrooms until next summer, BMW has already readied a media campaign for its spanking new sports saloon. The global campaign, which will launch in print and TV media in the second quarter of 2012, features a total eclipse of the sun as the central theme and the motto “Beauty. Revealed”.
BMW tells us that the beginning of the commercial, the new version of the 6-Series will be barely visible, but as the eclipse progresses, the firm's newest model will gradually come into light. When the eclipse ends, the sun will come out and the Gran Coupe will be fully revealed.
“The new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe marks the beginning of a new chapter. It is BMW’s first four-door coupé and combines uncompromising driving dynamics with exclusive elegance and breath-taking design”, said head of BMW communications Andreas-Christoph Hofmann. “The campaign uses the image of a solar eclipse to highlight the model’s uniqueness.”
You can take a peek at the print ads right after the break.

Watch Czech Police Slap a Wheel Clamp on a Bugatti Veyron 16.4

No one really likes to get their car booted, but if you're willing to park illegally, then you should also suffer the consequences, no matter what type of vehicle you drive. And while we don't know how the owner of this two-tone Bugatti Veyron 16.4 will react once he returns back to his cherished possession, we do know that the Czech police officers seen in this video had no problem clamping the French supercar - even though the regular boot lock was no match for the Veyron's humongous rear tire.
Take a look at the video after the break.

Ferrari 458 Italia Challenges a Koenigsegg Agera R - Video

When your ride packs a high-revving, 570HP V8 matched to a dual-clutch transmission for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) then you’re inclined to believe that you're the king of the road. But as fast as your ride may be, there will always be something faster. And as the owner of a Ferrari 458 Italia found out, the Koenigsegg Agera R that was launched earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show is one of them.
This is not surprising given that, on paper, it smokes the Italia, sprinting from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds thanks to the 1115HP courtesy of its 5.0-liter V8.
Of course, with a price tag in excess of $US 1.4 million, the Agera R makes the 458 look like a bargain…
Scroll down to watch the duel.

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like a 1/4-scale R/C big rig sleigh

That there's a Santa Claus and an "elf" riding some sort of contraption behind a miniature big rig is intriguing enough. In reality, the downsized big rig is the story. Built by model maker Luca Bordin, the 1/4-scale Peterbilt 359 isn't a kit, it's made from scratch.

As best we can tell from Google Translate, Bordin found detailed plans of the 359, then fabricated the body out of fiberglass, including the cabin, and attached it via springs to a twin-rail frame made of iron. The differential steering mechanism was lifted from go-karts, the diesel tanks are plumbing pipe, a nightclub smoke machine blows white clouds from chrome stacks, a 12v compressor powers two truck-sounding horns, and the engine is from an electric jack "with lots of torque."

What's more: when Santa's not riding out back, Bordin fabricated a fiberglass trailer to go with the tractor. It's impressive, and we're hoping Santa drives it straight under our tree. There's video of it after the jump.

Subaru Owner Goes Berserk Upon Seeing New 2013 Scion FR-S on the Road - Video

Subaru Owner Goes Berserk Upon Seeing New 2013 Scion FR-S on the Road - Video

Some of us may have been slightly disappointed by the conservative transition of the original Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S from concept to production, but there's a lot of enthusiasm out there, especially from young buyers looking for an affordable, rear-wheel drive sports coupe. You can see that from the interest shown in all three derivatives of the collaborative project between Toyota and Subaru, despite the fact that the BRZ, 86 and FR-S are virtually identical sans for some insignificant styling and trim differences. In the States, the plan is to bring the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S (instead of the 86 / GT 86).
To see just how enthusiastic some potential buyers are, take a look at the reactions of a driver of what seems to be a 1990s Subaru Impreza and his passenger after spotting a Scion FR-S somewhere in California, in the video after the break.

Mythbuster: Are Modern Truck and Car Emissions Comparable to that of Lawn Blowers? [Video]

Mythbuster: Are Modern Truck and Car Emissions Comparable to that of Lawn Blowers? [Video]

With government agencies enforcing stricter emission regulations every year and auto manufacturers doing their best to prove that their cars are as eco-friendly as possible, hyperbole is part of the game. A common saying is that the modern cars are cleaner than lawn equipment and that the carbon dioxide emissions they release are actually lower than that present in the air that comes into the combustion chamber.
Edmund's Insideline decided to put the theories to the test. Since cars come in all shapes and sizes, they chose two examples from the opposite side of the spectrum: a Fiat 500 mini and a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Crew Cab pickup.
The diminutive Fiat is powered by a 1.4-liter four with 100HP, while the big and menacing-looking Raptor sports a 411HP 6.2-liter V8.
They also bought along two leaf blowers: one with a single-cylinder 50.8 cc two-stroke engine and the other with a 30cc four-stroke engine.
The contest took place at the Automotive Research Center of the American Automobile Association Auto Club of Southern California, which runs the FTP 75 emissions cycles test that is one of the primary standards in U.S. light-car emissions and fuel economy certification.
So what do you think? Are modern cars and trucks as clean as their makers claim them to be, beating even a common lawn blower? No spoilers here: just watch the video to find out the answer.

Chuck Norris Approved: Man Flies Out of Truck Window but Walks to Tell Another Tale

Chuck Norris Approved: Man Flies Out of Truck Window but Walks to Tell Another Tale

Seatbelts are there for a reason and that is to save the lives of passengers and the driver alike. Now, you'd think that in this day and age, anyone without a death wish would use them. Well, sadly, many people all over the world continue to ride in motor vehicles without strapping on their seatbelts. In this incident, a large lorry violates a red light ramming an oncoming truck at the intersection.
As a result, the driver (or the passenger, we're not sure) who obviously wasn't wearing his seatbelt, was flung out of the windshield. Amazingly, the man got up on his feet and walked away, slightly injured but nevertheless, alive. The crash happens approximately 50 seconds into the video which you can watch after the break.

The first thing most of our readers [sic…] may notice about this video is that the featured Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is equipped with an automatic transmission. Do we really need to tell you what else your eyes will rest upon after that? And oh, it's probably a good idea to tell you that both videos are somewhat NSFW (probable less about Work, more about Wife). Watch How Porsche Engineers Developed the New 911

Watch How Porsche Engineers Developed the New 911

Its shape may look very similar to the previous model, but Porsche’s 911 that made its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September is pretty much a brand-new car. Porsche’s motto of “evolution, not revolution” clearly applies primarily to the shape of its iconic sportscar, which has been its mainstay product for more than four decades.
It doesn’t necessarily extend under the skin, though: the only stipulation so far is that every 911 must have a flat-six engine placed at the rear.
Before releasing the new generation code-named 991 to the public Porsche engineers had to make sure that it would be operating perfectly under even the most extreme conditions. It’s not something novel, as most car manufacturers usually test their models rigorously to avoid costly mistakes.
Seeing Porsche engineers burning the midnight oil and rigorously testing the 911 in such diverse conditions as South Africa and the Arctic Circle, and even witnessing some components fail is, in our opinion, anything but boring.
You can watch the 10 minute-long video (and envy the test drivers all you want...) right below the jump.

Video: Back and Forth Parking Job New York City Style

Video - Back and Forth Parking Job New York City Style

If you have ever lived in or at least visited a large city like New York, you'll know that, sometimes, finding a parking space can be than harder than searching for a needle in a haystack. And the worst thing is when you're driving in circles for hours and finally find a free space only to discover that you can't fit in.
Not surprisingly, some drivers are so desperate that they don't care if they have to bump their way to squeeze in, like this owner of an older generation Toyota Camry that just had to park no matter what. A time-lapse video is waiting for you just after the break.
